Teacup Fairies

Here are some new style Greetings Cards that will be available in my website shop next week. These little fairies sit or slumber in pretty vintage teacups.
The whole image is raised from the card to give more depth to the piece and the wings are printed onto acetate for a transparent feel to them.
Each teacup is finished off with a tag that reads "Teacup Fairy". The cards are left blank for your own message.
If you wish to pre-order any of these cards before they hit my shop please drop me an email with your requirements.

My Favourite "Old Time" Burlesque Performance

As a teenager I can remember watching this Goldie Hawn film "Duchess and the Dirtwater Fox" and loving this funny Burlesque scene, especially her gorgeous outfit and humorous dance moves. Little did I know back then that I would enjoy altering old vintage images into cheeky cards and decorative items some of which would have a Burlesque theme to them. Hope you enjoy watching this as much as I do, let me know your thoughts.

There's No Place Like Home

There's no place like home, especially on a lazy Sunday with the sun streaming through the Garden Room windows, a cup of tea in my hand and chilled out tunes on the radio. This was my Sunday scene today, whilst creating these latest cards.
Now as Sunday evening approaches I'm am sitting writing this post on my sofa with my kids playing around me and hubby in the Kitchen about to make me yet another cuppa in my favourite Emma Bridgewater Mug..... ahhh bliss!

Candy, Cakes & Wonka Bars........

Woke up this morning to a beautiful sunny day, dropped the kids off at school and then went to the historic town of Battle with my lovely friend Claire to deliver my cards and other bits and bobs to the vintage shop that is going to stock them. It was a great excuse to spend some quality time with a wonderful friend in this gorgeous village. We made one stop in an amazing candy store, I was so excited to find Wonka Bars, sugared mice and other goodies from my childhood.
Just look at these displays... row upon row of sweeties, don't you just love the glass jars they are kept in, such a vintage feel to this super shop.
And ohhhhh these darling little sugared mice, kept under a glass dome, just waiting to be brought... actually we did buy some for the kids, my boys have never eaten sugared mice yet so I can't wait for them to try one.
If you ever find yourself in Battle stop by the Abbey Tuck Shop, it's definitely worth a look.

We stopped for coffee in a local Bakers with lots of cakes to tempt us! Just take a peek at the scrumptious looking Cupcakes below..... tempted are you????
Then on to business, dropping of my handmade goodies to "Vintage of Battle", this quaint little shop tucked away in a pretty mews, had some gorgeous painted furniture and little decorative items on sale, also rare, used and out of print books. Hopefully my cards will do well here.

We then hit the shops and little boutiques with lots of oooohhing and aahhhhing and the occasional purchase as we made our way slowly up the village towards historic Battle Abbey.

Right next to the Abbey is a very old, quaint restaurant where we stopped to have a spot of lunch. As it was such a sunny day we ate outside in the sunshine with the Abbey towering next to us.
The restaurant had a delicious menu available, I ate Sweet Potato and Ginger Soup with warm crusty bread while Claire indulged in a homemade Liver Pate with red onion chutney... yumm! And talk of the devil.... here she is (below) desperately holding our table number in anticipation of her lunch to come......(she'll kill me for putting her picture in lol!), sorry hun, luv ya xxxx

So, all in all a wonderful day filled with Candy, Cakes, Cards, sparkles and lots of laughter!!

An Artful Morning

I've had a lovely laid back Sunday morning creating... bliss!!! The kids have been wonderful, amusing themselves, and hubby was off collecting an Ebay purchase.... A six berth tent with all the trimmings... sleeping bags, air beds, cooker, table and even a little larder.... he loves camping and now the kids are old enough he's intent on weekends away under the stars... lol!! Weather permitting of course!! So I set up my art table in our Conservatory and got busy making more cards and vintage gift tags. The little ladies in my card above, started out completely naked, but by the time I'd finished with them they were wearing stylish little vintage lace bra and panties embellished with fine glitter to cover their modesty.
I then went on to create four little gift tags using vintage images recoloured by the wonderfully talented Itkupilli . The tags are mounted onto thick cardstock covered in vintage sheet music and then sealed with Diamond Glaze for a beautiful crackled, glazed effect.
All of these will be added to my previous cards for the Vintage Shop that will be stocking some of my work. Well Hubby is now home and cracking on with the Sunday Roast, so I'm off for a glass of vino and to put my feet up...... Happy Days!!!

More Card Creations.......

I've had a super morning creating more cards for a local shop owner who wants to stock my card range along with other items I design. For these latest cards I've worked with vintage images of children adding lace, vintage papers and embellishments to my designs. I created the skirt (above) out of vintage paper varnished with Diamond Glaze.

Some of the cards contain 3D elements, with parts of the image raised from the card to give depth to the design.
I've also worked with some Paper Whimsy images, which I love, particularly the gorgeous blooms above.
