Selvedge Sneek Peek

I have just returned from a wonderful weekend in London at the Selvedge Winter Fair.  Thank you to my lovely Mum (pictured above next to the Maygreen Fairies Stand) for all your help on the Friday, and for putting me up over the two days.  And to my lovely Dad and Brother in Law for helping to get me there and back with all my stock intact!
The quality and amazing talent at the Fair was all around, I felt like a child in Santa's Grotto!! Here is a sneek peek of some of my favourite things.......
 Gorgeous pieces from GENTLEWORK

My lovely friends work at HOMEFRONT VINTAGE (above)
Beautiful purse designs from the very talented Viv of HENS TEETH ART
The fabulous MAGPIE AND THE WARDROBE
Brooches from the super talented JESSIE CHORLEY
And my absolute favourite stall at the Fair (and I have to confess I purchased the little rabbit pictured top right) A THREADBEAR PRODUCTION

It was a pleasure to be involved in this event, I had lots of fun, enjoyed a glass or two of Champagne and had the pleasure of watching a super Fashion Show with the models parading around the aisles of the stalls and of course met lots of lovely customers both old and new!  So thank you to anyone who stopped by to say hello and those of you who purchased from Maygreen Fairies!

Recycled Art Journal

After spending several weeks collecting Cereal Boxes, Asprin Boxes, odd bits of card and also raiding my fabric scraps bag, I have finally put together the cover and inside signatures for my handmade, recycled Art Journal.

The cover was created out of a Cereal Box and then covered in a scrap of wallpaper, I have raised the centre image onto thick cardstock and punched holes and sewn into the top.  The design for the front is created using fabric, vintage images and inks.  The signatures (pages) inside the journal are all made from cereal boxes and painted in acrylic craft paints ready to adorn with more art.  The binding for the journal is a simple piece of wool which has then been dressed up with tied scraps of fabric. I am planning to fill this journal with pieces of my art and the finished book will be thick and sumptuous, full of my arty creations.  Have a go yourself at creating one of these, one off, journals, make them as a gift for a loved one, you don't have to make the inside signatures from boxes, you could just add lined or watercolour paper inside!

My Home - In Period Ideas Magazine

Back in October last year my home was featured in Your Home Magazine, and to my surprise I was told by a friend recently that it is currently in the September issue of Period Ideas, which is fab!
Here are some snaps of how it looks, it is a lovely thick glossy mag and the pictures of my
home look so lovely in this mag, they've even used my book sculpture to advertise
Maygreen Fairies.

It was a really fun experience when the photographer and journalist came to my home last year to take the pictures, it's great to see what goes on "behind the scenes" so to speak, in one of these
home photo shoots, it was not at all intrusive or disruptive to my home, infact I really
enjoyed having them here, and of course, it was a great excuse to give the
house a good spring clean!

It's also really interesting to watch how they photograph the rooms, using their special wide angle and fish eye lenses to capture every corner of each room.

If you wish to purchase Period Ideas you can find the link to it on the left hand side of this blog.

My Best Friends "Daughters" Wedding

I had a fabulous time last weekend helping my Best Friend Sarah celebrate her Daughters Wedding. On the Friday I attended the Venue; The Ashdown Park Hotel in Wych Cross, East Sussex.  We had a room packed full of gorgeous summer flowers to create the large pedestal flower arrangements and also the table decorations.  Sarah's Brother worked on the large arrangements whilst Sarah and I produced the table ones, it was such great fun to do and the smell of the flowers in the room was amazing.  Above I am working on one of the table decs.
On the Saturday I met with my parents at the venue for lunch and also to hand over my lovely boys to their care for the afternoon/evening so hubby and I could enjoy a child free few hours and stay at the hotel after the wedding.
The Hotel and it's Grounds are stunning and the boys loved exploring when we first arrived, it was a very hot day so we took a stroll down to the large lake for some photo opportunities.
As we walked back towards the Hotel we were able to look at the Summer house and seating area where the Bride was to marry later that day, it looked so pretty with all the white parasols over each chair to help provide the guests with some respite from the warm weather.

Below is the Bridal Party making their way towards the Summer House and their awaiting guests, just around the corner of the trees to their left.
We had a scrumptious lunch on the patio area of the Hotel, mouth watering prawn sandwiches, and pimms and of course lemonade and cola for the boys!

Here is one of the table decorations I helped to create for the Wedding Breakfast.  This was held in the converted Church on the grounds, so the room had stunning stained glass windows all around it and at the main end of the room where the dance floor would be later in the evening.

Below are the happy couple; The beautiful Bride, Handsome Groom and to the left of the Bride her lovely Sister...

And below, here I am with my lovely Best Friend Sarah (Mother of the Bride) and our other wonderful friend Noels. Happy Times!
