Oopps, I've been so carried away with the Wedding thing that I forgot to list a Weekly Showcase piece, so here goes...better late than never!
This piece is entitled "Mermaid Dreams" and it is produced on thick cardstock. The background layer is taken from a famous Japanese Art Piece, which I can't remember the name of at this time (shame on me!!). The Mermaid herself has been fashioned from a vintage image of a 20s lady, I printed her tail fin onto clear acetate and the accented it with some sparkles and a sterling silver embellishment. I have raised one of the waves to enable me to position a part of the mermaids fin behind it to give a slight 3D effect. Oh and of course not forgetting the sparkles to cover her modesty!

Very lovely. I am a big fan of sea and ocean artwork. I've been working on a collaborative art journal called "Seaside Dreams," which I hope to finish some time this year. Love the 3-D effect you produced and the metal embellishment. You are an inspiration!
OMG I LOVE HER! she was meant to be a mermaid! hehe hugs

Hi Mandy!
Thank you so much for your recent visit to my blog. It was a delightful surprise.
I really love the idea of painting acetate and using it in artwork. How clever! You have a beautiful place here. I enjoyed your very elegant wedding post as well.
We lovers of all things magical and fairy have got to stick together. I shall return. ;)
Hugs! =D
