PreRaphaelite Altered Art

As well as working with vintage photographs I also like to alter Pre Raphaelite images. I have enjoyed Pre Raphaelite Art for many years now, the likes of Waterhouse, Millais, Rossetti etc... have always inspired me. The images are so dreamy and whimsical, which is why I guess they appeal to me so much.
The beautiful detail in some of the paintings is amazing, take the image above for example, look how stunning her silk dress looks, it actually looks like silk, I imagine that if you reached out and touched it you'd actually feel silk!

Many of the images from this era are perfect for altering into Whimsical Creatures such as fairies, they are just crying out for a pair of gossamer thin wings to turn them into the daintiest of fairies.

A while back I visited the Tate Gallery in London and saw some of the Pre Raphaelite Art "in the flesh" and it is breath taking, most of the pieces are much larger than I realised and so, so much more beautiful than they appear in print. And to top it all off the frames that they reside in are beyond words.....stunning!! Well worth a visit!
