A Sunday Morning Stroll

We took our first Sunday morning stroll in 2010 this morning, and what a glorious morning it was. The sun was shining, but it was very chilly. Walking across the fields in the sun it was lovely, but once in the woods out of the sun, it was very cold with a dusting of snow on the ground.
Everywhere glistened with snow and frost, and the dried, now frosty leaves of autumn crunched beneath our feet as we walked through the woods.

The air smelt of woodsmoke with locals keeping their homes warm with log fires, it's one of my favourite smells in the country. Every now and then we stopped in silence to listen to a distant woodpecker making his home.

After stopping briefly for a warm cup of tea, a cookie for the boys and the last of the Christmas Cake for us, we then began our walk back home.

The lane leading from the woods to our home was covered in frost and ice and the boys had great fun breaking the ice as we strolled back along the lane.

Once home the boys filled up the bird feeder with nice crusty bread for the little birds in our garden, in particular our friendly Robin, they wanted to make sure they are kept fed during this cold wintery spell.
