Book Binding Fun!

There is nothing like spending a day with friends creating, and that's exactly what I did last Wednesday with two of my lovely artsy gals, Sarah and Noels.  We spent the day at Noels house creating our own binded journals using Noels wonderful supply of papers and fabric, she has such a fabulous workspace that I just had to share it with you all.  When we arrived I spent the first half hour drooling over her fabrics, art books and art supplies which were housed beautifully in pretty cupboards and shelves.
Her colourful displays really made you smile and created an inspiring space to work from.  Noels is so very talented she showed me an array of projects that she has created and I have included a few of her fabric journal pages at the end of this post... they are just beautiful.
Noels helped us create our Journal cover using pelmet vilene, felted jumpers and leather from old bags (I haven't completed my journal yet but I will showcase it here on a later post when its completely done).  Below Noels is demonstrating how to cut, measure and fold the outside cover, it was really interesting working with the pelmet vilene, it gave me so many ideas for other projects I could use it on.
Fully concentrating on the task in hand was difficult as there was lots of gorgeousness at every turn, little mini sewing machines were dotted around the workspace, as well as lots of sewing bits and bobs.
As a thankyou for hosting the day, both Sarah and I gave Noels a gift that we had made, I wrapped up a selection of my vintage cards and tags and Sarah made this goregeous primitive bunny (below), which Noels promptly placed on her dresser in her kitchen... she looked right at home, don't you think??
One of the hilights of my day was getting to sew on Noel's Bernina Sewing Machine, don't get me wrong, I love my Singer, but there is truly nothing like sewing on a Bernina, it's definitely on my wish list as a future purchase.

Well, that was just a sneek peek of my fun day, and as promised, below are some samples of Noels gorgeous work....such a talented lady!

I need your help and I’m searching the web for people with an interest in fairies. My best friend has caught a fairy and he put up a blog to get advise and everyone is telling him to let it go. We cannot let this happen. Can everyone who has an interest in fairies please go to his blog and help me convince him to keep the fairy. Thank you. http://captivefairy.blogspot.com/
